Light trap

Yup, that's a light trap we set today. Got it borrowed from Lynn, Ecology lab. Also got 4 tubes of ethanol for tomorrow's catch. We're going to make it a 12 hours trap. Another good news was we managed to get insecticide strip from Lynn's mentor. So nice of him to get it for us. The trap was set up approximately 7.30pm and going to retrieve it at 7.30am.

We also planted a pitfall trap approximately 10 meters away from the light trap. This time, I improved on the pitfall by adding salt(a lot of it) and detergent into the solution in pitfall.

The last pitfall trap only got one silverfish. I hope this trap will get something better. Last one was a mistake, but we learn from mistakes and it was a trial, so it's okay. Things will be more intensed after Chinese New Year holidays.

At every spot, different methods will be used to sample the relative diversity of insects. I'm hoping to get all the traps done in 2 weeks, maximum.
